SAFEGUARDING YOUR SHOPPING EXPERIENCE

The safety and health of our employees, shoppers and community is the top priority of Southgate Market.

We are following guidelines and actions offered by the International Council of Shopping Centers, which continually monitors and updates information released by the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention).

PREVENTATIVE MEASURES INCLUDE:

  • Increase in frequency of sterilization procedures using CDC-recommended products, with an amplified focus on all high-volume touch points such as restrooms, escalators, elevators, entrance doors, handrails, etc.

  • Ongoing maintenance of existing alcohol-based hand sanitizer dispensers and disinfectant wipes in highly-trafficked areas and walkways for public use. Installation of additional units when possible.

  • Working in tandem with the City of Chicago and local health municipalities to monitor the evolving situation and further respond as-needed.

The center has been following the current situation in our community and is taking all necessary precautions to remain open at this time.

CDC RECOMMENDATIONS:

Amid the global spread of the communicable virus, public health officials from the CDC urges everyone to practice healthy habits including:

  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.

  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.

  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.

  • If soap and water are not readily available, use a hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Always wash hands with soap and water if hands are visibly dirty.

  • Cover your mouth and nose with a cloth face cover when around others.

    • You could spread COVID-19 to others even if you do not feel sick.

    • Everyone should wear a cloth face cover when they have to go out in public, for example to the grocery store or to pick up other necessities.

    • Cloth face coverings should not be placed on young children under age 2, anyone who has trouble breathing, or is unconscious, incapacitated or otherwise unable to remove the mask without assistance.

    • The cloth face cover is meant to protect other people in case you are infected.

    • Do NOT use a facemask meant for a healthcare worker.

  • Continue to keep about 6 feet between yourself and others. The cloth face cover is not a substitute for social distancing.

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.

  • Stay home from work if you are feeling sick.

  • Make accommodations for your employees to stay/work from home if they or their children are affected.

We will continue to monitor the data and recommendations from CDC, WHO (World Health Organization) and ICSC, and update our practices as needed.

Individual store, restaurant, and fitness studio hours may vary. Contact the store for details before your visit.

By following the above protocols, we can all take an active role in helping to contain the spread of COVID-19 and work together to maintain a healthy environment for our community.
